Italy Trip — Colosseo Quadrato

We visited EUR (Esposizione Universale Roma), which is a business and residential district just south of Rome, Italy. The area was originally planned for the site of 1942 world’s fair which Mussolini planned to demonstrate a celebration of Fascism using design and architecture. This structure is Colosseo Quadrato or also know as Palazzo della Civiltà del Lavoro. The structure was indented to echo the classic Roman design of the Colosseum with modern influence. It is entirely clad in travertine, much like other buildings in the EUR.

The building was abandon after the Second World War and was left in a state of despair, until Fendi purchased it in 2015. The entire building was renovated and is now the home of the Fendi headquarters.
